Red River (1948)

Mutiny on the Bounty on the plains but more compelling and better acted.
One of the Duke's best performances and also fine work from a young Montgomery Clift.

The Roaring Twenties (1939)

For best 30s gangster film with an incredible confrontation between Cagney and Bogart at the end. I also love the newsreel quality to it which gives it an immediacy and sums up the Prohibition Era.

Safety Last ! (1923)

I don't think anyone has captured the thrills of climbing up high buildings as well as Lloyd does here. To me it is a classic sequence : the extra element of suspense adds to the film.

The rest of Safety Last ! (1923) can't quite compete with it but I really think the film is very well paced and filled with entertaining sight gags which make it very funny. Overall it is to me Lloyd's funniest film but oddly not his best that honour for me goes to the superb The Kid Brother (1927).
